It was clear from the start that this was going to be a tough battle. The game was tied 12-12 at the end of the 1st quarter but Summit managed to gain a 30-24 lead at the half paced by 11 points (including three 3-point shots) by Jadin Jackson. Wayne White and Xavier McCormack each added added a trey and Michael Kalin scored six points.
Cranford narrowed the Summit’s lead to 4 points in the 3rd Quarter despite 8 points by Kalin and 3's by White and Will Schafer. So the scored was 54-50 starting the final quarter. Summit turned up the defensive heat in the final 8 minutes and forced a number of turnovers. Schafer led the 4th quarter scoring with 8 points (including another trey). White and Jackson each contributed 3-pointers and Chip Roiston add 4 points. When the dust settled Summit’s up tempo 10 player rotation produced a 78-70 victory.
Jackson (16 points), Schafer and Kalin (14 points each) and White (10 points) were all in double digits. Kalin and Roiston led rebouding with 6 each. Summit was hot from the 3 point arc hitting on 11 of 20 attempts.
