Gov. Livingston started fast and toke an early 8 point lead, but Summit finally got on track and the quarter ended with GL holding a 13-11 lead. However, Summit turned up the defensive heat in the 2nd quarter. Summit held GL to a single field goal in the 2nd quarter. That was augmented by 6-6 shooting from the foul line (free throws would eventually play a big role for GL). Meanwhile Summit scored 18 2nd quarter points, led by Will Schaffer’s 7. That meant that Summit ended the half with a solid 8 point lead.
Gov. Livingston started the 2nd half like a different team. They turned the tables on Summit with a strong defense and erased Summit’s advantage, putting GL ahead 42-40. GL’s Wilson, a really good shooter, already had 19 point entering the final quarter. He would finish with 30 points.
Summit tied the score at 47-47 but a pair of GL 3's and almost perfect shooting from the foul line allowed Gov. Livingston to pull away. Foul shooting played a major role in GL’s victory. Their team shot 85% of their free throws (22 of 26). Summit went 12 of 17 but that 10 point difference was enough to give GL the win.
Will Schaffer was Summit’s high scorer with 15 points. Jaden Jackson (11 points) and Gary West (10 points) were also was in double digits. Summit is now 1-3 in our Conference.
