Summit and Hanover Park, an old rival from Iron Hills Conference, battled evenly during the first three quarters. The final quarter began with Summit ahead by 2 points, 43-41. With Hanover Park’s best player on the bench with 4 fouls, Summit turned up the defensive heat and it helped produce turnovers that allowed Summit to build a 6 point lead with 3 minutes left in the game. However, HP slowly chipped away at the lead and the score was 57-56 and Hanover Park had the ball and 30 seconds. At the 20 second mark a very close call put their star at the line. He smoothly drained both shots. Down 58-57, Summit inbounded the ball with 9 seconds but the shot failed.
Michael Kaelin led the Summit scoring with 14 points and Will Schaffer was also in double digits with12.
