Summit had lost a 7 point lead in the 4th quarter to loose by 2 at the buzzer, so they were motivated to avenge their loss. The Hilltoppers turned up the heat and rolled to a 17-4 1st quarter lead. Hillside regained their balance and held Summit even in the second half. Gary West’s 10 1st half points led Summit to a 29-16 advantage.
Hillside started the 2nd half by turning on the their defensive pressure. Summit was bit rattled and at one point Hillside cut the lead to 3 points. Some fans were thinking “here we go again.” But Summit pulled their game together and closed out the quarter with a 9 point lead.
The 4th quarter turned out to be all Summit. When Hillside was forced to foul Summit drained 13 of 16 foul shots, led by Paul Flanagan’s 5 free thows.
Flanagan had his season high 15 points to lead the scoring. Gary West (12 points), Will Schaffer (11 points) and Michael Kaelin (10 points) were in double digits. Chip Roriston had 8 rebounds
