Morristown and Summit entered the game with identical records (13-5), both were on a 7 game winning streak with identical records against 3 common foes. So the stage was set for a close game. It was not to be. Morristown outscored Summit 17-10 in the first quarter and ended half up by 11. A big part of the difference was the fouls that were called. Summit just couldn’t get a call from the refs. Late in the half the fouls were 9-1 against Summit. Nine of Morristown’s 11 point lead were foul shots. Summit played Morristown close to even in the 2nd half, but were never able to get closer that 7 points. When the dust settled something of a record had been set. Not only did Summit not score any points at the foul line, they never even got to shot a foul shot. None of the Summit fans could remember a game where one side never got to shot a foul. Morristown’s 11-0 advantage in made foul shots was a big element of the loss. Another Summit deficit was 3-pointers. Summit connected on only 2 of 14 3-point shots.
