Summit traveled a couple of blocks to take on Oratory. Summit prevailed, but it was an unusual game. The refs had their whistles out and between the two teams they went to the foul line 67 times and accounted for 50 points. That’s got to be a record of some sort.
Oratory entered the game with a 4-1 record, but Summit established a 19-13 lead in the 1st quarter with scoring by 6 players. Seven player’s contributed in the 2nd and the Half ended 33-27. Will Schaffer came on strong in the 3rd with a pair of 3's and a pair of FG’s for 10 points. Even so, Oratory shaved one point off the Hilltopper lead (49-44). Summit had only 3 FGs in the final 8 minutes, by Paul Flanagan, Schaffer & Gary West. However, Hilltoppers hit on 17 of their 23 free throws to win going away.
Schaffer led all scorers with 19 points. Paul Flanagan had his best scoring game of the season with 13 points. Gary West was in double digits with 12 points. Summit had 24 rebounds but they were distributed over 10 players
