Summit (7-5) traveled to Roselle (5-4) to complete the first cycle of conference games. Will Schaffer had a hot hand in the first quarter with 9 of Summit’s 15 points and helped Summit to a 7 point lead. The second quarter was played almost even and Summit ended the half with a 6 point lead.
Roselle came on strong in the 3rd quarter and reminded the fans of the games in which Summit lost substantial leads in the second half. When the quarter ended the lead had been narrowed to 1 point (38-37). Michael Kaelin’s scored 6 of Summit’s 8 points in the quarter.
Fortunately, Summit righted the ship and out scored Roselle 23 to 10 to win going away. In the final 8 minutes Summit got six points each from Kaelin and Paul Flanagan, plus 5 from Justin Cise and 4 from Schaffer.
Kaelin led all scorers with 17 points closely followed by Schaffer with 15 points. Schaffer and Chip Roriston each had 9 rebounds
