Summit traveled to Union to take on the 7th seed in the Union County Tournament. They faced two very tall inside players and three strong 3 point shooters outside. Add to that, very quick ball handlers and you have a tough situation for the Hilltoppers. Gary West had a great first quarter scoring 11 points to keep Summit in the game. Justin Cise came off the bench and contributed 5 points to allow Summit to stay within 5 of Union. The farmers were 5 for 5 from three point land and ended the quarter ahead 23-18.
All Summit could muster in the second quarter were a pair of 3s, one by Will Shaffer and one by Cise. As a result Summit down was by 11 at the half. A better 3rd quarter, with five players scoring, allowed Summit to get to within 9 points. Summit would close to within 8 at one point in 4th, but Union's Athleticism eventually won the day and Summit was forced to foul. To no avail.
West was Summit’s leading scorer with13 points. Cise had a great game with 12 point and some good defense.
Note: I am missing one point in the box score. I will fix when I see the varsity book on Friday
