| Summit closed the regular season by hosting Montclair at home. Montclair took a 10-8 lead in the first quarter but Summit bounced back to take back the lead at 20-17. Christina Richson (8 points) and Cassidy O’Malley (7 points) provided most of the 1st half scoring. Summit continued to grow their lead and started the 4th quarter holding a 8 point advantage.
With 4 minutes left in the game Summit’s lead was 11 and things were looking good. However, Montclair turned up their defense and Summit panicked. Summit turned the ball over on their next 5 possessions with hardly getting the ball across the center line. Each turnover led directly to a Montclair score. Suddenly the lead was down to 2 at 36-34. All the rest of Summit’s scoring would be at the foul line. Thankfully, Richson, O’Malley and Catherine Maloney scored on 7 of 8 attempts. The final minute was a nail biter. Every time Summit found some breathing room Montclair would answer with a score. Ultimately, Summit’s free throws carried the day.
