The Patrick School came to Summit with a record of 2 wins and 4 losses and the Summit fans may have been expecting an easy win. That feeling was re-enforced when Summit jumped to an easy 8-0 lead. However, a closer look at their record showed that they beat perennial powerhouse Shabazz and a loss, by 3, to Roselle Catholic. Patrick shooting in the 1st quarter was way off the mark and the quarter ended with summit ahead 19-8. Things changed in the 2nd quarter. Patrick turned up the defensives pressure and those wild 3's started going down. Patrick erased the 11 point deficit and replaced it with 2 point lead (31-29) at the half. The 3rd quarter ended tied 40 all.
Patrick gained a 6 point lead early in the 4th, but a pair of treys by Christina Richson and 3 FGs by Cassidy O’Malley closed the gap to 54-53 with about a minute left. In that final minute Summit was forced to foul. Unfortunately, Patrick’s star, Qadashah Hoppie, drained 6 of 6 from the foul line. She finished with a game high 25 points
O’Malley led Summit with 20 points and Catherine Maloney (12 points) and Richson (11 points) were both in double digits.
