Summit built on its 2-0 lead in the third period when Hicks scored twice 29 seconds apart to take a four-goal lead with 8:44 remaining in regulation. Scotch Plainss scored its only goal in the 3rd to make it 4-1, Thomas Shung scored with 2:47 left to put Summit up 5-1. Vitton completed the hat trick with his empty-net goal with nine seconds remaining, which also came shorthanded. Kyle McLaughlin made 29 saves for Summit. while Tim Mitchell matched that effort for Scotch Plains.
