The final regular season game with New Providence had special significance because a win would secure the Conference championship. Summit built a 7-3 advantage after 5 innnings and the Summit fans were feeling comfortable. However, over the next 2 innings New Providence managed to score 4 runs without a single hit. There were 6 walks, 1 hit batter and two errors. Meanwhile the Summit bats went silent, going down 1-2-3 in both the 6th and 7th innings. So the game went to an 8th inning.

Andrew Miller, who took over the mound for the last out of the 7th, held NP scoreless in the 8th. Patrick Smolyn was safe on a fielding error and was advanced to 3rd on a sacrifice bunt by Matt Reddy. Greg Vlass hit an infield ball that was thrown home but the Smolyn was safe, Summit won the game and the Conference title
