Another great game with Summit wining in the bottom of the 8th. Matt Moremile wqs the starting pitcher and was strong through the 7 innings he pitched. He allowed only 2 runs on 6 hits and only 1 earned run. With the score tied 2-2 after 7 innings Kunal Sengupta came on in relief for the 8th inning, and was credited with the win.

In the top of the 8th Watchung Hills’ leadoff hitter smashed a shot to left field that had chances to clear the fence. However, Andrew Miller made an amazing catch at the wall. The next batter hit another shot to left that Miller hauled in. After a walk, Matt Murdock tracked down a hard shot in center to end the inning.

In the bottom of the 8th Greg Vlass singled and Murdock hit a slow roller for an out that advanced Vlass to 2nd, in scoring position. That brought Sengupta for his 1st varsity at bat. He cracked a clean single and that allowed Vlass to score on a very close play at home plate.

Summit took a 1-0 lead when Murdock singled to start the game for Summit. Moremile’s, single advanced Murdock to 3rd and Grant Douglas singled to drive in Murdock. Watchung Hills tied the game in the 3rd combining a double and a single. Summit regained the lead in the 6th. Again Mormack singled.. Moremile laid down a nice bunt advancing Murdock to 2nd. Murdock scored when Douglas' single to left was mishandled by by the left fielder. Watchung Hills tied the game in the top of the 7th on a leadoff double, followed an infield error.
