If you weren’t at this Tournament game you missed one the most amazing and exciting comebacks in Summit’s basketball history. The 1st quarter featured an unbelievable shooting barrage by Warren Hills. Four different players drained 7 3-pointers and ended the quarter ahead 28 to 10. Seven of Summits 10 points were by Will Schaffer. Quite honestly, it looked like Summit was doomed. An 18 point deficit is pretty hard to overcome.
Summit came out in the 2nd quarter with an aggressive trapping defense that baffled the Blue Streaks and held them to 5 points (23 fewer than 1st quarter). Meanwhile the threes began to drop for Summit. One each by Jack Washburn and Finbar McCormick plus a pair by Malcolm Sidebottom. All totaled Summit scored 19 points and closed to within 4 points. The half opened with more of the aggressive defense.Sixteen points from 6 different players produced 16 points and a 3 point lead for the Hilltoppers. The final quarter featured 6 point each from Schaffer and Sidebottom and 4 points by Dom Yorio. That along with great defense allowed Summit to win by 8 points. Essentially a 26 point rally. Summit will go back to Rahway for the quarterfinal game on Thursday. Sidebottom had a game high 21 points and Scahffer added 18 points. Sidebottom and Yorio each had 6 rebounds | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
