Katia Carnevale and Cecily Stabler each netted two goals while Anna DiSibio, Emily Paytas and Julia Szynal had one goal apiece for Summit, which outscored its opponent, 8-0, in the first half. Maddie Collins recorded four saves, Amy Martino had two saves and Anna Huntley-Robertson added one assist

Lost 7-3 The two teams had traded goals for most of the first half, setting up another classic between the two programs that needed double overtime to decide a winner in last year's Tournament of Champions final. Summit won that game, 11-10.

Ridgewood broke a 3-3 tie with two minutes left in the first half, and Ridgewood extended the lead to 5-3 at the half. Summit's goals were scorred, Katia Carnevale, Emily Paytas and Anna Turk.

Anna DiSibio scored Summit's only goal of the 2nd Half. Maddie Collins had 10 saves in goal.

Monday, Apr 3 4:00PM  Away Mendham Won 16-6 Katia Carnevale led nine scorers with a game-high four goals to lead Summit past Mendham, 16-6, in Mendham.

Anna Griffith added three more goals while Cecily Stabler and Julia Szynal chipped in with two apiece for Summit, which led 10-4 at the half.

Goalies Maddie Collins and Amy Martino combined to make three saves as well.

    Goals from Cecily Stabler (two), and Helen Johnson (one) was a huge part of Summit defeating a tough Oak Knoll team on the road.

    Wednesday, Apr 19 4:00PM  Home Glen Ridge Won 12-8 For the opening 10 minutes of Wednesday's game, Summit would take a lead and the Ridgers would be able to almost immediately respond, making sure the Hilltoppers never got too comfortable with its lead.

    Summit ultimately found its groove and started to take advantage on draws, leading to a five unanswered goals during a 7-1 run between the two halves to secure a 12-8 victory over Glen Ridge. Maddie Colllins made 7 saves

    Won 16-7 Anna Huntley-Robertson scored three goals and added a game-high three assists. Julia Szynal found the back of the net twice and picked up two ground balls. Katia Carnevale led all scorers with four goals.

    The Hilltoppers played fast the entire contest, opening the match with two goals in just over a minute. Anna Turk recorded two goals and an assist and Cecily Stabler added two goals. Maddie Collins had 7 saves and Amy Martino one save.

     Saturday, May 6 5:30PM  Away UCT Finals vs. Oak Knoll
    Lost 10-9 (OT) Oak Knoll came out firing, scoring the first three goals in the opening nine-plus minutes while holding Summit to limited offensive chances. The Hilltoppers got on the board thanks to Julia Szynal's eight-meter goal with 11:44 left in the first half but the Royals responded two minutes later with her second goal of the night to give Oak Knoll a three-goal advantage at the half.

    The lead was a welcome sight for Oak Knoll but one that would not hold through the second half. Oak Knoll opened the 2nd half with a 4-2 spurt that gave them a five-goal advantage with just over 12 minutes left.

    It was then that the Hilltoppers found another gear as Johnson spearheaded a 6-1 run with the first two goals of the stretch. 

    Summit scored the final four goals in regulation, spanning 4:20 minutes, with Anna Griffith capping off the run with an eight-meter goal with 7.3 seconds left. 

    Oak Knoll won the overtime faceoff and scored to win the championship.

    Sectional Semifinal

    vs. Roxbury

    Won 14-3 Katia Carnevale tallied a game-high five goals and Anna Huntley-Robertson added three scores to lead top-seeded Summit to a 14-3 victory over fifth-seeded Roxbury in the Sectional semifinals.

    Julia Szynal had two goals with four assists and Anna DiSibio, Aca Spotts, Shannon Groskoph, and Kelsey Space each posted a goal apiece for Summit, Maddie Collins had four saves in the win.

    Summit will host neighbor second-seeded Chatham in Thursday's final.

    Final vs. Chatham
    Won 13-6 Helen Johnson tallied six goals and Katia Carnevale added two goals with an assist to lead top-seeded Summit to a 13-6 victory over second-seeded and No. 12 Chatham in the final of the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 3 tournament in Summit.

    Cecily Stabler had two scores, Anna Turk and Julia Szynal each added one goal with an assist apiece, and Anna Griffith posted one goal for Summit, which led 9-2 at halftime.

    Maddie Collins had seven saves in the win and now has 104 on the season.

    Tuesday, May 30 6:30PM Away NJSIAA Group 3 North Final vs. Northern Highlands
    Won 12-6  Summit was in need of a realignment after falling behind 5-3 iin the at halftime of the Group 3 Semifinals. It didn't take long into the second half for Summit to assert its dominance and look like the Hilltoppers that have been one of the best teams all season. Summit turned up the defense and turned on the scoring machine, as they out scored Northern Highlands 9-1 in the second half.

    Seven Hilltoppers scored with Szynal, Anna Turk, Katia Carnevale, Anna Huntley-Robertson and Helen Johnson scoring a pair of goals each. Satella Spotts snd Cecily Stabler added a score each with Carnevale assisting on two more goals. Maddie Collins stepped up her play in the second half as well, finishing the day with four saves.

    Saturday, June 3 4:00 PM Kean Group 3 Final vs. Moorestown Won 9-8 Yet again Summit and Moorestown met in the State tournament. Moorestown held an overall advantage so everyone expected hard fought contest and the is what they got. Julia Szynal got things stated with a goal 3 minutes into the match. It was immediately answered by Moorestown. Summit ran up the next three goals by Katia Carnavale, Anna Huntly-Robertson and Szynal. So mid way through the 1st half Summit led 4-1,

    The remainder of the half was dominated by Moorestown who out scored Summit 4 goals to 1, tying the game 5-5 at the half. Summit’s goal during the stretch was by Helen Johnson.

    The 2nd half started with two Moorestown goals and suddenly Summit was down 7-5. Goals by Johnson, Anna Turk and Carnavale gave Summit a 8-7 lead with 10 minutes left. The next 7 minutes featured furious action but no goals. Then with 3:49 to play Moorestown scored on a penalty shot to tie the game.

    Summit’s Johnson scored with 1:56 left on the clock. The hilltoppers won the face off and set out to run out the clock. However, a turnover gave the ball back to moorestown with a 1;24 left to play. The furious action culminated in a great save by Maddie Collins to get the ball back with 38 seconds on the clock. This time Summit successfully ran out the clock to win the Group 3 title.

    Note: 5 of Moorestown’s 8 goals came on penalty shots, while none of Summit’s were on penalties.

    Wednesday, June 7 5:00PM TOC 1st Round vs. Oak Knoll Lost 11-9 Summit and Oak Knoll met for the 3rd time in the first round of the TOC. Summit had won their first meeting and Oak Knoll won in the second. This game turned out to be a game of streaks and momentum shifts.

    In the first 10 minutes Oak Knoll out scored Summit 4-1 with Summit’s lone goal scored by Julia Szynal. Goals by Anna Turk and Helen Johnson closed the gap to 4-3 and the Summit fans began to breath again. However, Oak Knoll scored once more before the end of the half to put Summit down 5-3 at the break.

    Summit came out in the 2nd half like a different team. Over the first 5 minutes after the break Summt scored 4 unanswered goals by Anna Huntly-Robertson, Katia Carnevale and two by Johnson. That gave Summit its first lead 7-5. However, the tide turned against Summit as Oak Knoll poured in four straight goals over six minutes to go on top 9-7. Huntley-Robertson scored to make it 9-8 with 8:49 left in the game.

    Oak Knoll put the game out of reach with a pair of goals, the last one with only 2:54 remaining in the game. Stella Spotts would score one more goal for Summit, but Oak Knoll ran out the clock.

    So a great season ended with only three loses, one to a powerful Ridgewood team and two to crosstown rival Oak Knoll. .
