Summit hosted Johnson and tried to avenge an earlier one run loss (5-4). Unfortunately, the Hilltoppers lost again by a single run (4-3). Summit was undone by 4 errors that made 2 of Johnson’s runs unearned. In fact, if only earned runs counted it would have been a 2-2 tie. All totaled the two teams committed 7 errors. Both starting pitchers pitched the full 7 innings and they both looked strong at the end.
Johnson scored a run in the 1st and 2 unearned runs in the 3rd. To take a 3-0 lead. Danny Isralowitz led off the top of the 4th with another of famous “beat out the bunt” singles. Matt Reddy was safe on an infield error. Isralowitz scored on a single by Andrew Miller and Reddy scored on a wild pitch. Starting pitcher Alex Boburka.put the next six batter out, but Johnson added a 4th run in the 6th. Making the score 4-2. Summit started a rally in the bottom of the 7th when back to back singles by Trevor Mutolo and Emory Carlson produced a run. But, two pop ups ended the game.
Boburka allowed only 2 earned runs off 6 hits.
