This game against Madison started promisingly as the Hilltopers established a 4-1 lead after the first two innings. Then there was a pitching change by the Dodgers. Summit managed only 2 hits over the final 5 innings. Meanwhile Madison added 5 runs in the 3rd inning and another 4 runs in the 5th inning,
Will Hellings started but ran into trouble in the 3rd inning. When the dust settled Madison had added five runs and Summit was down 6-4. Hellings turned over the mound to Cusumano as his pitch count approached 90. Cusumano struggled and eventually would be charged with 4 runs. Michael Competiello came on in relief. After an initial hit he put down the final 8 batters of the game.
Summit scored two runs in 1st, Hellings was walked and Isralowitz singled. Hellings scored on a sacrifice fly by Reddy. Isralowitz scored on a single by Competiello. Summit add 2 more runs on four consecutive singles by Weiss, Vlass, Hellings and Competiello.
