Arch rival New Providence came to Summit and it was a real pitcher’s duel. Through the first 6 innings the game was scoreless. Will Hellings started for Summit and through the six innings he was on the mound he allowed only 6 hits and no runs. Similarly, the New Providence starter allowed Summit no runs on 4 hits.
Summit’s best chance to score came in the sixth when Matt Reddy led off with a double and moved to 3rd on a sacrifice bunt. However, a strikeout, a walk and fly ball ended Summit’s hopes. Will Gibson came on in relief for the 7th inning. Sadly, two Summit errors allowed three unearned runs to score to give New Providence the margin of victory
