Oratory took on Summit on Senior Night. The game was played on Summit’s artificial turf field at night. My thanks to Hoot and Henery Gibson for scoring the game.
Summit jumped to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st . Greg Vlass started the inning with a single. Emory Carlson drew a walk. After 2 outs, Trevor Mutolo was hit by the pitcher and Andrew Millier doubled to score the runners. A single by Smolyn scored Miller. And the cscore was 4-0.
Starter Patrick Smolyn ran into trouble in the 3rd inning and 5 runs crossed the plate (one of them unearned). However, Summit regained the lead with 3 runs in the 3rd. The lead was short lived as Oratory got two runs in the fourth.
Summit rallied in the bottom of the fifth. Reddy was walked, Carlson singled, Mutolo walked, Competiello singled, and so did Justin Weiss. All this resulted in 3 runs and the victory because Competiello got the final nine Oratory batters of the game in order.
