Summit traveled to Somerville for the quarter final game of the North 2-Group 3 Sectional Tournment. Somerville scored in the bottom of the 1st off a pair of singles and pair of walks. Summit tied the game in the 2nd when Trevor Mutolo doubled to start the inning and scored on Justin Weiss’s single.
From there on Somerville pretty much dominated play and won 6-1.
Notes: Danny Isralowitz laid down yet another perfect bunt that he beat out to be safe at first. It was his 7th or 8th time this season, a remarkable feat.
Somerville’s reliever, who pitched the final two innings, had an odd quirk. He faced eight batters ,hit 3 of them and struck out the remainder, all on called 3rd strikes.
As always, I am sad to see the baseball season come to an end. My thanks to the players for so many hours of baseball joy. I am already getting excited about next year.
