Summit's Maximus Russo needed to make a move with little time remaining. The Summit sophomore, trailing Alex Aranas of Gov. Livingston with the finish line in sight, pushed through the final leg of the race and came out with a close victory.
Russo won the Boys Mountain Division race at the Union County Conference Championship in Warinanco Park Tuesday. He ran the 5,150m course in 16:31, edging out Aranas by one second to take the gold medal. Summit finnished in second place overall with a 1-7--8-14-20 showing behind Russo, Sam Passey and Sam Fleischman. |
