Summit got off on the wrong foot in the first quarter and Hillside easily took a 16-9 lead. Dom Yorio supplied the scoring punch in the 2nd quarter with six points and Summit closed the gap to four points at the half. Starting the 2nd half Summit stepped up the defense and Malcolm Sidebottom added 8 points to allow Summit to finally lead 31-27 going in the the final 8 minutes.
The 4th quarter saw Hillside step up the defensive pressure. Summit virtually collapsed under the pressure. The Hilltoppers failed to inbound the ball under the Hillside net on five trys, leading to Hillside scores and their lead at 44-42 with seconds to go. Sidebottom was fouled and calmly drained them both to send the game to overtime
In overtime Hillside took the lead again, but Jackson Tyler nailed 3 key free throws, Sidebottom and Joe Lusardi scored field goals and Eric Baier drained two free throws to allow Summit to win by 2 points.
Sidebottom had an amazing 2nd half. In that half he scored 18 of Summit’s 25 points.
