This Saturday Summit took on Oratory, our neighbor. Clearly ,they had scouted Summit enough to know that Malcolm Sidebottom was a serious 3-point threat. They kept him bottled up the entire game. Oratory capitalized on 3-pointers in the first quarter and took a 13-11 1st quarter lead. Dom.Yorio scored 9 points to keep it close. Five Summit players scored in the second quarter to capture a 24-19 lead.
Summit managed only 7 points in the 3rd quarter while Oratory made 7 field goals, almost at will. That put Summit behind 33-31 starting the final quarter. The Summit offense sputtered in the the 4th. Summit sent Oratory to the foul line 17 times. The Hilltoppers were aided by having Oratory miss 7 consecutive free throws that still left Summit down by 3 with seconds to go. Will Hellings managed to drain a trey to go to overtime,
In the overtime Summit held Oratory to a single point and won 56-50.
Note: Yorio led the scoring with with 15 points. Hellings had 14 point, including the shot that sent the game to overtime. Finbar McCormick had 7 rebounds.
