Cranford year after year finds a was to beat Summit and this year they entered the Union County Tournament as the top seed. This time Matt Reddy took the mound and pitched a superb eight innings, giving up only 1 earned run, and sending Summit to the semi finals next Saturday at Kean University. It is hard to heap enough praise on Reddy’s performance.

A key element in supporting Reddy’s performance was that Justin Weiss thwarted three runners who tried to steal in the late innings. They were perfect throws.

Summit’s first run came in the 4th inning. Trevor Mutolo singed to start the inning and eventually scored on Emory Carlson’s double.

Summit scored again when Tarashuk was walked to start the 5th and eventually scored on a single by Hellings. Summit scored the winning run when Danny Israllowitz doubled to start the the 8th and scored scored on Hellings’ single.

What a great game! Summit will play the winner of The Johnson-Union Catholic game on Saturday at Kean University
