Summit played Ramapo in the first ever North 1 vs. North 2 Group 3 Championship. So the excitement was high. Ramapo was unbeaten in 12 games and was ranked higher. What eventually brought down the Hilltoppers was the exceptional passing game of Ramapo. Their quarterback connected on 20 of 30 thirty passes, 288 yards. What’s more their quarterback was aways able get the ball to the right spot every time. Summit, as always, relied on the running game. Max Jackson (137 yards) and Joe Lusardi (119 yards) delivered the goods. However, that wasn’t enough to offset the 288 yards delivered by Ramapo’s quarterback. All five of Ramapo TDs.

Ramapo took the opening kick off and marched down the field in 12 plays to go up 7-0. Later in the quarter Summit put together a 13 play drive and a two point PAT to end the quarter with Summit ahead 8-7.

The second quarter showed what the game held in store. When Ramapo scored 3 Tds on passes of 41, 20 and 22 yards. Max Jackson brightend the Summit fans with a 31 yd TD run. That made the score 20-16. Sadly, Ramapo scored at the end of the half the score was Ramapo 28, Summit 16. Hopes were still high since Summit would receive to start the 2nd half.

But it was not to be as Ramapo dominated play in the 3rd quarter and started the final 12 minutes with a 35-16 advantage. Summit would score one more time when Jackson Tyler scored from 3 yards out.

Summit ended the season with an 11-2 record and provided Summit fans with a spectacular season. The players are truly “The Pride of Summit.
