After siting through Summit’s Frosh and JV losses to Gov. Livingston the fans were looking for a varsity victory. However, in the first quarter Summit was out played 14-4 and was out of sync. Things looked bleak. Fortunately, Summit came alive behind Malcolm Sidebottem’s 11 points to take the lead 24-23 at the half. Summit cranked up the up the defense in the 3rd quarter, holding GL to 5 points. Eric Baier led with 6 points, 1 point more the GL’s whole team. GL didn’t mount a serious challenge the final quarter.
Sidebottom led the scoring with 20 points and Will Hellings added 11 points.
Note: I wrongly credited Sidebottom with the winning free throw in the Westfield game. In fact it was Joe Lusardi’s free throw.
