| Summit took on Gov. Liviugston in the first round of the Union County Tournament. If you weren’t there you missed one of the most exciting games of the season. GL entered the game coming off an 8 game winning streak. Both teams had 5 losses.
Summit got off to great start as Finbar McCormick nailed three straight 3 pointers and Malcolm Sidebottom added 2 treys, Eric Baier added 4 points and Summit ended the quarter ahead 19-8. GL showed they too could play the 3 point game as they answered with 6 3's in the 1st half and closed to 32-27 at the half.. GL came out strong in the 3rd and briefly tied the score 40 all. However, 7 points by Baier and a trey by Lusardy allowed Summit to start the final quarter with a 7 point lead. GL was not about to give up. With 2 minutes left GL cut the lead to 53-50, a 3 by Sidebottom and a free throw McCormick maintained the 4 point lead at the end. Summit will play the winner of the Linden (6) - Hillside game, next week.
