Wow, what a fantastic performance by the Hilltopper squad. Summit had to overcome the 2nd seed and Irvington’s home court advantage. Summit led at the end of each quarter helped by that Irvington never copped with Summit’s fast break points. That allowed Eric Baier to rack up 12 points in the 1st quarter and 18 points at the half. Baier was quiet in the 3rd quarter but Malcolm Sidebottom and Will Hellings each contributed 6 point and Summit maintained a 3 point lead as the 4th quarter began.
The 4th quarter saw Summit put on a spectacular show to win the game going away. Hellings drained a pair of 3 pointers, Sidebottom had 6 inside points, and Jackson Tyler had a trey. Then the game turned to free throws. Finbar McCormack went 4 for 4, Baier hit 6 of 7, Hellings 2 for two. WHAT A SHOW!! Baier led the scoring with 27 points and both Sidebottom and Hellings scoring 18 points Note: The scoring reported in NJ.com is missing 2 point in the individual scoring | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
