Philpsburg traveled to Summit for the first matchup with Summit in memory. It was clear from the start that it was going to be a hard fought battle. At half time Summit established a 10 point lead. However, Philipsburg cranked up the defensive pressure and quickly erased the 10 point lead. Summit was held to only 4 points for the quarter and Summit entered the final 8 minutes with a tenuous 4 point lead.
With a couple of minutes left in the game the score closed to 44-41 and it looked like Philipsburg was going to get possession via floor scramble. Fortunately for Summit a Philipsburg player commited technical foul. Malcolm Sidebottom drained the two fouls shots and Summit got the ball back. That realy sealed the win.
Sidebottom led Summit with 13 points and every player contributed points.
