While Plainfield is not the powerhouse of yore, a victory over Plainfield is still a big win. It was a rough and tumble game.
An event occurred in the 2nd quarter that the fans have rarely , maybe never, seen. Summit was charged with a defensive 2-shot foul. That led to a player comment, That led to a technical foul being called. Another comment led to a 2nd technical foul, and expulsion from the game. Plainfield went to the foul line and drained all 6 free throws plus the ball.
That allowed Plainfield to take a 31-30 lead . Inspite of Malcolm Shipbottom’s 10 3rd quarter points, Plainfield still had a 45-44 lead. . Seven of nine from the foul line plus 4 2's gave Summit the victory.
Eric Baier led the scoring with 19 points, Malcolm Sidebottom had 13.
Note: Sidebottom needs single digits to break 1000 career points, so don’t miss the Hillside came on Tuesday.
