It has been 11 years since Summit has beaten Rahway at Rahway. It is almost like there is a jinx. Long time Summit fans enter the Rahway gym with a heavy heart.
This year Malcolm Sidebottom sank a layup with less than 30 seconds that would have tied the game and put our best free throw shooter at the line for the win. A wistle blew and it was not to be, the call was against Summit, as it had been all night. (Rahway went to the 20 times to Summit’s 9). The halftime score stood a 25-24, with Rahway up. The 3rd quarter put Summit behind the eight-ball 41-29 and it looked bleak. However, Summit came roaring back behind a 3-pointer by Fibar McCormick, 13 points by Sidebottom, 6 by Eric Baier, and a 3-pointer by Joe Lusardi. The gap had been closed to 56-54 when Summit intercepted a Rahway pass and Sidebottom nailed the layup that was not to be. Note: Unofficially Sidebottom needs 65 points to reach 1000. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
