Summit, the 7th seed, traveled to 3rd seeded West Morris Central before a packed house. Summit came out with guns blazing and raced to a 16-6 first quarter, Malcolm Sidebottom contributed 7 points, Eric Baier 6 points and Finbar McCormick 3. West Morris, with only 3 losses, wasn’t used to being behind and began a comeback in the 2nd quarter. West Morris pulled to within 3 point with 10 seconds left in the half. Sidebottom took the inbound and at half court fired as the buzzer sounded. Swish and the lead was back to 6 points.
The 3rd quarter was played even behind 5 points by Baier and 4 more 3-pointers by Sidebottom. West Morris answered with three treys in the 4th and eventually tied the game and sed it to overtime. Despite another 3-pointer by Sidebottom, West Morris scored 5 points for the victory Sidebottom had an amazing game, scoring 36 point in his final appearance inSummit’s maroon and white I am from Indiana, where high school basketball is everything. Over this season, and I hate to see it end, I have seen some of the best basketball in years. Congratulations to coach Simo , the four seniors and the wonderful juniors who will be the backbone another fine season next year.
