Westfield appeared on Summit’s schedule for the first time in over a decade and this one was quite unusual. Summit played the 1st quarter like it was in a fog, scoring only 3 points to Westfield's 8. However, Westfield returned the favor in the 2nd quarter by scoring only 2 points, those 2 points were in the final 40 seconds of the half. As a result Summit was on top 15-10 at the half. The fans were wondering what happened to the offences.
In the 3rd quarter each team scored 16 points so the margin was in Summit’s favor 31-26 as the final 8 minutes began. At long last Summit’ offence began slowly increasing its lead so that with less than 90 seconds left Summit was ahead 48-39, led primarily Malcom Sidebottom’s 12 4th quarter points. The fans became more comfortable but Westfield put those ideas to rest. Westfield cranked up a powerful trapping defense that overwhelmed Summit with repeated turnovers. They ran off 10 points in a bit over 60 seconds and tied the game at 49-49.
In the final few seconds Shipbottom was fouled. Everyone held their breath. He missed the the first but made the second to win by a point.
Sidebottom (19 points) and Baier (17 points) led the Summit scoring. Dom Yorio hauled in 8 rebounds and Will Hellings had 7 rebounds
