The quarter final game between Summit and Somervile had many unusual aspects. The 1st quarter went scoreless for sometime before Annabella Yorio hit 3 pointer. Somerville answered with pair of free throws. That was the only scoring and the quarter ended 3-2.
Normality returned in 2nd quarter. Olivia Lawlor and Jessica Penner, both Freshmen, each scored 6 points and Summit was ahead 17-10 at the half. The low scoring returned in the 3rd and Summit started the final 8 minutes with a 22-15 lead.
Then things went wrong. Somerville turned up the defense and Summit had increasing difficulty getting the ball over the center line. At the same time Summit was colled for many fouls. As a result, Somerville went to the foul line 18 times and hit on 15 of them. Summit’s advantage disappeared.
A sad ending to a fine season
