The Union County Tournament was going just as the script was written.
Undefeated and top-seeded Elizabeth, the No. 2 ranked team in the NJ.com Top 20, was leading unranked Summit, the tournament’s second seed, 2-0 with 13 minutes left in the second half.
Elizabeth already had two wins over Summit - most recently taking it down 4-0 almost exactly a month ago.
Then in 36 seconds, everything changed.
First Summit sophomore forward Ethan Harris put in a penalty kick to bring his squad within one with 12:44 left. Then Harris sent a long shot off of Elizabeth keeper Dylan Valencia and the crossbar. Senior midfielder Nathan Todorov hopped on the rebound and put it into the back of the net to even the score at 2-2 with 12:08 to play.
The score remained 2-2 through the final 12 minutes of regulation and two overtimes crowning Elizabeth and Summit as co-champions of the Union County Tournament after 100 minutes of soccer at Kean University
