Summit took on Somerville (4-0) and ranked 11th in the State. Clearly Summit was a heavy underdog.
On Summit's 2nd possession Joe Lusardi hauled in a pass from Roberts and went 68 yards to score. The PAT run failed but Summit was up 6-0 In the 2nd quarter a late FG by Brock Froschauer allowed Summit to to end the first half with a 9-0 lead .
Summit kicked off in the 2nd half. But Lusardi intercepted and ran the ball to the Somerville 28. Lucardi eventually scored and the score was 15- 0 midway in the 3rd quarter. However, Somerville began to ware down Summit's defense and Somerville scored late in the 3rd and added a 2 point conversion. So, going into the final 12 minutes the score was 15-8.
Mid way through the final quarter Somerville's star raced 81 yards to give them a 16-15 lead. Summit was forced to punt with about 3 minutes left in the game However, Summit got one more desperate chance. Sommerville was running out the clock when they fumbled and Summit got the ball at the Somerville 49 with under 3 minutes left. Roberts' pass to Goldblatt put the ball at the 15. Two runs by Lucardi moved the ball to 4 yard line From there he bulled his way into the end zone to regain the lead.
