When Rahway comes to town you can always expect some excitement all the way to the end. This game was no exception.
Rahway and Summit were tied 9-9 after the 1st quarter. However, Rahway’s Carter scored six of his game high 34 points to the help the Indians to 28-24 lead at half time. Eric Baier kept it close with 10 points.
The pendulum swung back to Summit in the 3rd quarter as Summit out scored Rahway 16-9 and restored a 3 point Summit lead entering the final 8 minutes. As we came down to the wire Summit held a lead that was 1 or 2 points. In the final 20 seconds free throws gave Summit a two point lead for the victory. However, Carter had different ideas and with about 9 seconds left he scored to tie the game and probably go to overtime. But Summit rifled the ball down court, found Baier, who managed to get off the shot that gave Summit the victory.
Baier led the Summit scoring with 24 points and Will Hellings had 17 points. Hellings took down 13 rebounds and Baier had 9 for a strong defensive night.
