Summit took on Westfield in the season opener as part of a triple header played at Union HS. At the half Summit held slim lead (24-23) , with Eric Baier leading the way with 10 points.
The 3rd quarter saw Summit pull away from Westfield behind five points from Baier and a pair 3 pointers by Charles Lord. The final 8 minute started with Summit ahead 40-36. The final 8 minutes featured 3 pointers by Will Hellings and Lord, plus Baier going 3 of 4 from the foul line.
Baier led all scorers with 20 points, including 8 0f 10 free throws. Lord had 9 points, all from outside the 3 point line.
Note: The West Essex game has been re-scheduled for 11AM on Monday December 23.
