I have no idea what the final score was, but if Summit lost it would be a huge surprise. Oratory had a difficult time when the rain picked up. I finally left when my scorebook was a mess and I was a wet mess. If any one knows the final score, let me know

Won 12-11 Summit scored 7 runs in the 4th inning to grab a 9-2 lead after the 4th inning and things lookrd good. However, Summit suffered a pitching melt down in the 5th and 6th innings and Summit was down 11-10 starting the final inning.

@Union Catholic
Summit defeated Union Catholic 20-1 in a slug fest away at UC. Summit scored 6 runs in the 3rd and 6th innings. That alone was almost enough to win the game However Summit added 8 more runs and the put the Game away.

Editorial: I think Union Catholic has the worst field in NJ for fans to watch a baseball game. Fans have to sit well beyond the Left field fence. It is impossible to tell who is a bat and a ball hit over a fielder will roll forever on their slick surface. If it goes over the center fielder/right fielder it could roll 900 yards.

Summit is now 9-3

1st Round of the Union County vs. Johnson
Finally, a warm/sunny morning for Baseball against long time rival Johnson. Frey was the starting and did a fine job through 5 innings. He entered the 6th inning trailing 2-1.

Johnson started the 6th with 2 infield hits. That was followed by 2 infield pop-up that were badly handled by the infield and resulted in Frey being replaced by Schaffer. He was promptly met with another infield error. The final result was 4 unearned runs in the 6th.

So the 7th inning began with tied. Johnson's first batter got on base on yet another infield error and later scored to give Johnson a 7-6 lead. Summit went down 1-2-3 for the loss.

Summit traveled to Whippany Park (where the score board never works right). Gavin O'dell was the starting pitcher and was creded with the win. Brett Colon Pitched the nex 3 innings and Johnathon Lehrich was the closer.

Summit was aided by Whippany Parks' weak defense. Charlie Schaffer and Wes Hellings each scored twice to lead the offence.

Monday May 24 4:00 Home vs. Linden

(12-6)

Lost 6-3 in 9 innings It is hard to believe that the Linden players who came to Summit were the same ones that suffared a mercy defeat on their field a month ago.

Linden jumped to a 2-0 lead in in the 1st inning. Summit cut the lead to 2-1 when Jacobson singled and later scored when Frey singled to drive in a run. Linden got an unearned run in the 3rd and that is how it stood until the bottom of the 6th. Singles by Hellings and Thompson were eventually forced in by walks to Reddy and Maglia to tie the game. The 8th inning was scoreless and so the game moved to a 9th inning. Linden put the game away with 3 runs in the top of the 9th.

Lost 6-3 This was originally billed as as an oportunity to finish the last two inning of the game that was stopped because of heavy rain with Summit holding a 2 run lead. However, it was decided to start the game from the beginning.

Hellings took the mound to start. He struggled early and gave up 2 runs to the first 5 batters he faced. He was tagged for another run in the 2nd inning. After going 3 up/ 3 down for the next 2 innings. Hellings gave up 3 more runs in the top of the 5th.

Luck Jacobson pitched the final out in the 5th and all of the 6th.

vs Pingry

Gavin O'Dell was the starter for Summit and allowed Pingry only one run in three of the 6 innings that he pitched. He was credited for the win

Meanwhile Pingry came unglued defensivel in the 2nd and 3rd innings It is hard to describe the number of defensive mistakes they commted over those two innings. But when the dust settled Summit scored 8 runs.

Bradley Chao pitched the final inning and put down Pingry 1-2-3
