It is hard to imagine winning a UCT Semi-final game while committing 6 errors, but some fine pitching by Jared Chellevold (who notched his 5th win) and Jason Flores plus a lot of heavy hitting pulled it off. Summit jumped to a one run lead in the 1st inning when Fred Luberto led off with a walk, advanced to 3rd on a single by Brendan Reilly, and came home on a fielder's choice by Chellevold. GL came back with 2 runs in their 1st. A lead off single was followed by a second single that got past Kyle Bennett allowing one run to score. Two consecutive errors by Reilly on ground balls allowed the second run to score. It remained 2-1 until the 3rd when 5 singles by Reilly, Chellevold, Bennett, Wheeless and Campagna resulted in 3 runs. Summit added 4 more runs in the 5th. Bennett led off with a hugh triple to right center. A single by Wheeless drove Bennett home. Campagna drew a walk and Lipsey drove in the second run with a single. Luberto drove in the final two runs of the inning with a double that, unfortunately, had to be recorded as a single because of really bad call by the umpire at second base. Jason Flores relieved Chellevold in the 6th who is still trying to recover from a shoulder injury. Things got off to a bad start when the leadoff runner got on because of an error by Lipsey. Following a single, the next batter hit a ground ball to short and another error resulted in one run crossing the plate. Another single scored the second run, but that was the end of the scoring for the day.
