Scott Croswell made is 1st Varsity start, having been brought up from the JV squad to help out down the stretch. He pitched 3 hit shutout ball for 5 innings. When he ran into trouble with 2 out in the 6th Jon Campagna came in to relieve him. Jon finished out the game. Croswell was credited with the win. Summit grabbed a 2-0 lead in the 2nd inning on back-to-back doubles by Ben Wheeless and Joe Mormak, followed by a single by Josh Lipsey. The lead went to 3-0 in the 3rd when Kyle Bennett doubled and Wheeless brought him home with a single. Three more runs were added in the 5th on 5 consecutive singles by Brendan Reilly, Jared Chellevold, Bennett, Wheeless and Mormak. One more came in the 6th when Lipsey walked, stole second and went to third when the catcher threw the ball into center field, and scored on a ground ball by Reilly. That left to score 7-0, but Mount Olive managed 4 runs in the 6th when Croswell walked four batters and gave up a single. The 1st batter to face Campagna in relief doubled to score the 3rd and 4th runs of the inning. Both runs were charged to Croswell. Now the score was 7-4 and the hardy fans who had made the long trip were a bit concerned. Summit added an insurance run in the 7th when Bennett was hit, went to third on a pickoff error by the pitcher and scored on a ground ball by Wheeless. Ben Wheeless has been on a bit of a tear lately and has 7 hit in his last 14 at bats. Summit played error free ball for the first time since April 11 against Gov. Livingston.
