Thirty eight points from Brian Rush and John Foushee and some furious 4th quarter defense brought Summit a come from behind Holiday
Championship. Foushee and Rush had 9 points in the opening quarter to lead Summit to an 11-10 lead. Chatham came on strong at the
beginning of the 2nd and built a 5 point lead but again Foushee and Rush came back to narrow the lead to one at the half. Chatham again built
their lead back to 5 at one point in the 3rd, but the quarter ended with Chatham up 3. The Summit faithful were aware that the previous night
Chatham had blown open a tight game with Hanover Park by scoring 31 points in 4th quarter and so was the Summit team. Summit turned up
the defensive heat in the fourth quarter and completely shut down Chatham's two 3-point threats, Palma and Raffo. In fact, Chatham failed to
score a field goal in the 4th quarter, getting all 8 points on free throws. At the same time the Rush/Foushee show continued as Summit pulled
slightly ahead. Kai Donaldson's FG with 2:20 left gave Summit a 4 point lead. With less than 2 min to play John Foushee made a steal and
was headed for a layup when Chatham's Raffo committed a flagrant intentional foul. John sank the two free throws and Summit kept
possession to pretty much seal the victory. Special recognition should go to Matt Von Klemperer, Brendan Reilly and John Brown for an
outstanding game long defensive effort that held Chatham's great outside shooters in check.
