The tone of this one was set early, as John Foushee poured in 8 points in the first 3 minutes and Summit raced to a 23-4 1st quarter lead.
Foushee and John Brown really applied the defensive pressure that forced many turnovers in the 1st quarter. The pace slowed in the 2nd
quarter as someone seemed to have slipped a lid over Summit's hoop. Shot after shot went in and then came out again. However, Madison
was only able to close the gap by a point. Summit turned up the heat again at the beginning of the 2nd half to build a 31 point lead. Early in the
3rd quarter Coach Prendergast began emptying the bench. Much of that quarter's scoring and all of the 4th quarter scoring came from the
bench. Keyon Smith was very effective on defense and contributed 6 points and Duane Dates had a career high 10 points in the 2nd half.
John Foushee had an awesome night, scoring 20 points. John Brown and Brian Rush were also in double figures with 11 and 10 points
respectively. Another bright spot was that Summit had its best night at the foul line, making 8 of 9 free throws.
