NAME 1st 2nd 3rd 4th Total
Mt. Olive 10 11 15 6 42
Summit 10 14 8 8 40

This one was a 32 minute heart attack. Except for a few minutes in the 3rd quarter this was a very close game. Summit built a three point lead in the 1st half on 14 points by John Foushee and 8 points from Brian Rush. However, one of the big keys to Summit's lead was 5-6 terrific assists by Matt Von Klemperer. Summit came out cold in the 3rd quarter and Mt. Olive ran off 10 unanswered points during the first 5 min. Summit finally recovered its composure as Brendan Reilly, John Foushee and John Brown hit for 7 points to bring us back to within 4 points as the quarter ended. Summit continued the rally in the 4th quarter and finally tied the game at 40, but it was not to be. With about a minute left Mt. Olive's Bragg hit a jumper to put them up by 2. In the final minute Summit had two chances to tie the game, but nothing would drop, including our free throws. It was a tough loss, but it was a very exciting basketball game. Interest in this year's team was evident by the fact that the biggest crowd in years filled the gym. A couple of times extra bleacher sections had to be pulled out behind the baskets to accommodate the fans.
