A strong Mendham team jumped off to an 11-7 lead in the first quarter, but Summit played them even in the second quarter to end the half down only four (18-14). The first half was characterized by a very aggressive Mendham defense that had Summit frustrated and a bit upset by the lack of foul calls. Mendham opened the 3rd quarter with seven quick points to open an 11 point gap. The real turning point then came on a particularly egregious foul call against Jon Campagna. Campagna was understandably frustrated and the stands erupted in boos and catcalls. The referee felt Campagna was too demonstrative and added a technical foul. So Campagna suddenly went from having only two fouls to having four fouls. Mendham's Schiffner sank all four foul shots to make it a 15 point lead and, of course, they got the ball out of bounds. That really put the game out of reach as Mendham outscored Summit 30-6 in the 3rd quarter and turned a fairly close game into a rout. Ryan Carey (11 Points) and Kurt Forsyth (10 points) led the summit scoring. Summit scored on 11 of 36 shots (30%)
