After a fairly tight 1st quarter Summit got hot and scored
16 points to build a 10 point lead. The first half scoring was
dominated by Ryan Carey's 3-pointers as he went 4 for 4
and added a free throw to pick up 13 points of his game high 19
points. Jon Campagna and Kurt Forsyth each added
6 more to account for all but 2 points in that half. Carey
picked up his 5th 3-pointer in the 3rd quarter as the lead went
to 14. The final margin of victory was 10 points, but it could
have been much more if Summit could have managed to hit its foul
shots. Summit went to the line 12 times in the 4th quarter and
hit only 4 of them. Jon Campagna finished the night with
10 points (5 for 5).
Summit stayed in a tough zone defense the entire game and only
two players on the Morris Hills scored more than 2 points. Summit
hit on 18 of 32 shots for a fine 56%. Summit plays Weequahic,
Parsippany, Dover and Hanover Park before the State Tournament
cut off date. The task before Summit is to win 3 out 4 of those
games. Tough, but not beyond reason.

Summit, playing without the services of Matt Benedetti,
struggled in th first three quarters and was down 31-20 entering
the 4th qurater. They came to life in the fourth quarter, but
were still down 9 with two minutes to play. Three's by Dan
Dugan and Lamar Freeman plus a FG and a pair of free
thows by Gerano Tan brought Summit to within 3 (40-37)
with 9 seconds on the clock. Summit had to foul and Morris Hills
missed the front end of the one & one so Summit got one more
chance with but 6 seconds left. Unfortuantely they weren't able
to get off a shot before the buzzer.
