This was the kind of game that reminds one of how exciting high school basketball can be. Kurt Forsyth sank a pair of free throws with just seconds to go to break a 43-43 tie. With 2 seconds left on the clock Mt. Olive had one last chance to in-bound the ball and tie the game. Matt Yarnold got off a quick shot. It was partially blocked and fell short, as the buzzer sounded a MO player tipped it in for what he thought was the tying basket, but the buzzer had gone off before the ball reached his hands.
Summit had held a small lead through the first three quarters, but Mount Olive pulled to within one (38-37) with a couple of minutes to play. Two free throws by Forsyth and one by John Martini made it 41-37. At this juncture MO's Panlilio , who had been shut down by Ryan Carey, scored his only points of the night to make it 41-39. Free throws by Forsyth and Jason Holmes rebuilt the lead to 4 points, but MO managed a pair of baskets to tie the score at 43 with 15 seconds left on the clock, setting the stage for Forsyth's heroics at the foul line.
Forsyth led all the scoring with 22 points while Carey was also in double figures with 11 points. Summit hit on 16 of 39 shots (41%)

Summit entered the 4t quarter down 2 points (25-27). Matt Benedetti started the 4th quarter by tying the score at 27. A 3-pointer by Freshman Dan Dugan made the score 30-28 but a basket by MO tied it again at 30. Field goals by Benedetti, Dugan and Ron Bigger put the game away. Bigger led the scoring with 11 points.
