For the third time in the final eight games Summit saw
a three point lead disappear at the buzzer and find themselves
in overtime.. Unfortunately, Summit went zero for three in overtime.
Needless to say this was exciting from beginning to end. Summit
grabbed a one point lead in a very low scoring 1st quarter. Summit
added to the lead in the 2nd quarter to go up by 3 points. The
most dramatic moment of the half occurred at the end of the half
when Keyon Smith hurled a shot 3/4 the length of the court.
The buzzer sounded with the ball in the air and the next sound
was a swish as it went through the hoop. Kurt Forsyth and
Smith led the first half offensive numbers with 9 and 7
points respectively. A dismal 3rd quarter (only 6 points) put
Summit behind by 5 and early in the 4th quarter Summit fell behind
30-37. But baskets by Forsyth, Kai Donaldson and
Smith got Summit back to within one point 42-43. Smith
then hit a field goal to give Summit the lead with about 90 seconds
to go. With 35 seconds left Smith hit one of two free throws to
make it a two point game. Then with only 15 seconds left Lamar
Freeman also hit one of two FT's and the lead stood at 55-52.
Weequahic came back with a heartbreaking three pointer to send
it into overtime. The overtime was closer than the score would
indicate because much of Weequahic's scoring came at the end of
the period when Summit was forced to foul.
Smith and Forsyth both garnered 19 point to lead
Summit's scoring. Ryan Carey and Donaldson each
had 3 assists. Donaldson led in the rebound department
with eight.

The Summit JV squad avenged an earlier 71-46 loss to Weequahic
with an overtime win. This was a very strange game as Summit was
held to 26 points from the field, but managed to score an additional
26 points from the foul line. The Summit total was helped by that
fact that three technical fouls were called against Weequahic
in the second half. One of the technical fouls was called because
a player who had fouled out went up and sat in the stands instead
of on the bench. In addition, on three crucial occasions lane
violations were called against Weequahic on foul shots Summit
had missed. In each case Summit sank them on the second try. Dan
Dugan led the the scoring in this season finale with 19 points.
