Summit took charge of this game from the start as they
jumped to a 14-10 first quarter lead. The lead should have been
even larger since Summit missed 3-4 easy layups. The lead grew
to 12 points at the half as Kurt Forsyth scored 13 of his
game high 28 points in the first half. Jason Holmes and
John Martini each added 6 first half points. West Essex
came on strong in the second half on the strength of Vinny Capozi's
14 2nd half points. But his efforts weren't enough to counter
15 second half points by Forsyth and 10 more from Ryan
Carey. Down the stretch it was a Summit parade to the foul
line as Summit hit on 13 of 18 attempts in the fourth quarter.
Forsyth's 28 points were a season high for Summit while
Holmes and Carey were both in double figures. Summit sank 21 of
52 field goal attempts for a 41% shooting percentage. They hit
on 21 of 31 free throws (68%).
