If you just looked at the final score you would think this one was easy, not so at all. Summit had to scrap hard for the win. GL pushed to a 14-11 first quarter lead on the strength of some good outside shooting. Things went better for Summit in the 2nd quarter as a pressing defense forced some GL mistakes and helped Summit gain a four shot advantage at the half. The third quarter was a close struggle but Summit managed to grow the lead by two more to 37-31. The game really opened up in the final quarter as Stephanie Bruce and Marissa Kellogg each scored six points while Danielle Proper added five more. That really broke GL's back.

Stephanie Bruce returned to full time play with a vengeance as she racked 22 points, her personal best for the season. It was great to see her in such fine form. It was also fortunate because Bita Yektashanas wasn't able to come in off the bench because of a sore ankle.

This was an unusual game because of the number of fouls that were called, 44 in total. Summit managed 17 of 28 and GL sank 19 of 30. In the second half GL kept their boat afloat primarily on the basis of foul shots. Thirteen of their 24 points in the half were from the foul line. GL's Calabrese scored 10 out 11 in the second half alone as she contributed 19 of GL's 24 points in that half.

Summit will play in the Sectional Final at Rahway HS on Monday (3/8) at 6PM
